35-40 Saltine Crackers (or any cracker of your choice)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Place your crackers in even rows and set aside.

In a saucepan over medium high heat melt the butter and brown sugar and whisk, allowing to boil for 1-2 minutes. If using a candy thermometer, allow sugar to reach 270-290 degrees.

Pour the melted toffee over your crackers, being careful not to disturb the crackers. Allow toffee to set for 1 minute. Place the tray of crackers and toffee in the oven for 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips and let sit.

Spread the chocolate over the saltines and sprinkle with chopped nuts and let it harden. Cut into pieces and serve, store in an airtight container, or package as gifts.

Christmas crack will last 4-5 days in an airtight container at room temperature, 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator, or can be frozen for up to a month. Christmas crack can be enjoyed at room temp, cool, or frozen!

Your toffee can be customized with warm spices like cinnamon or clove, or by adding nuts.

Any cracker can be used here. Try to mix it up - if using a salty cracker, try a sweet topping, or a sweet cracker with a salty topping,.

Toppings can be as various as the items available at the store. Try chopped pretzels, sprinkles for holidays, crushed candy canes at Christmas, or bitesize candies like M&M's.

Now it is time to prepare Fire Crackers, let’s begin!

16oz Saltine Crackers  (4 sleeves) OR 2 10oz packages oyster crackers

1 cup canola oil

1 (1 oz) package Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

2 TBS crushed red pepper flakes

Chicken-4.png

In a large airtight container, like Tupperware, place one flat layer of saltine crackers.

Combine oil and seasonings, whisk well until all is incorporated.

Slowly drizzle the mixture over the face of your crackers.  Add a second layer of crackers, and drizzle again. Repeat layering and drizzling until all crackers and oil mixture have been used.

Place your tight-fitting lid on the container, and allow the crackers to sit 20-30 minutes to absorb the seasonings, turning the container upside down every 5 minutes during that time to re-distribute any liquid through the crackers.

If using the oyster crackers, put the crackers into your airtight container. Drizzle 1/2 the oil mixture over the crackers. Attach the lid and shake well. Open container, and pour the rest of the oil mixture over the crackers. Re-attach the lid, and shake well. Allow oyster crackers to sit for 20-30 minutes to absorb the oil and seasonings, shaking the container around every 5 minutes or so during that time.
